dello status quo in Medio Oriente.
Damasco.
Cartello: applausi.
Jerusalem Post: More than 500,000 people march in Damascus in support of Syrian
President Assad
DAMASCUS, Syria
The Syrian government delivered its "people power" counter-punch to
Lebanon's anti-Syria campaign, drawing over 100,000 to a meticulously
stage-managed demonstration in Damascus on Wednesday.
Such a massive public display would not be possible without government
approval in Syria, a tightly controlled state. The rally was organized
by civil, economic, social, cultural and sporting groups of the ruling
Ba'ath Party.
